And I had to watch a couple of combat explained videos. Once it clicked it was fun all the way. And X3, really to get the full meaning you have to have played 1 and 2.
It's still its own thing but prior knowledge of past events boosts your enjoyment to max.
Prior to this I'd mostly been interested with seeing how my Switch 1 games would look on the new screen.
Some disappointment with unpatched games but very suprised with patched ones, Odyssey looks nuts.
So I played offscreen Mario Kart World and Cyberpunk 2077.
Yeah this is a next gen upgrade. The screen looks awesome with Mario Kart, blazingly bright and colourful.
Cyberpunk has HDR with a toggle and you can clearly see it working. It's brighter with it off but has a greater contrast and deeper darks and colour when on.
It's not as good as my TV on hdr content but it's still there and works.
Image quality is great, like I expected some baggies but every edge in Cyberpunk looks clean and its so smooth even in quality mode. Everything looks detailed, it looks full console quality only played on a portable. There are a shit ton of options to wade through, once I spent 30 mins tweaking things and adjusting my genital size it was great.
It's got this free camera gyro mode, it almost feels like VR as when you move the screen about to look at things it's like seeing through a window into another world.
Mario Kart I was kind of ambivalent on, I thought I knew everything, didn't think it would impress me. But one grand prix in and it had me grinning ear to ear. It's just fun, I don't even feel it needs a review, it just makes me laugh and smile.
There are some switch 1 games on sale, I might Lego City again as s2 should fix the frame rate on tv play. Im wondering if I buy a game on my OLED will it pop up on the switch 2 and vice versa?
BTW are we using NS2, or S2, or Switch 2 to refer to this console? I'm tired of typing Switch 2.
I meant Switch 2
Can't remember the real figure, at least over 25gb.
No then. But I've been playing all handheld. What's the battery life on joycon 2s?
Probably because the dynamic resolution scaling doesn't need to throttle it back anymore.
And smoother frame rates. A fully customised Animal Crossing island now has no lag. Age of Calmity seems smooth etc.
But they are also saying, like me that in portable mode the resolution sucks with NS1 games in handheld mode NS2
Switch 2 suddenly recognised my TV has hdr and let me calibrate it.
I fiddled around with it to get it looking nice. Need not to blast the brightness and have the left test image still clearly visible.
It doesn't matter if the right test image doesn't completely disappear.
Our original Switch stopped charging the left joycon. :/ luckily we have an OLED as well, but since the joycon can be used with Switch2 as well I'm now considering buying one of those charger docks.
I am really impressed with the Switch 2 tech. But honestly, would it have killed Nintendo to put in a proper game clock instead of "You have played Mario Kart World for about six hours or so"?
RE9 trailer is up! Switch 2 exclusive.
Resident Evil 9 trailer looked awesome and it’s scheduled to come out February 27th, 2026. Nice.
Getting ahead of GTA by two months.
So if you choose the Gamecube app then hold the left stick, the original GC intro screen pops up. Sweet, sweet memories.
Summer Game Fest was mostly a dud but a few standouts. Of course RE9 was the big one, finally glad to see the ruins of Raccoon City. They didn't show Leon but he is the co star. The chick is the daughter of the news lady from Outbreak, which hopefully gets a revival soon. I heard RE9 should be coming to switch 2 as well, I'm sure it will all be announced later.
now I'm going to try some Mina The Hollower demo.
I had a session yesterday where it all just clicked and I had a blast playing. The world is really fun to explore, there are some great challenges, even full hidden mini races. The knock mode is the absolute best, as is driving down a high way on the way to a new track and it's total chaos. It's like Fury Road Mario style.
My God, they need to release a demo so people can see how it looks.
I'm well aware that the game is 1080p, but whatever Switch 2 is doing in its final 4k output render seems crazy. Honestly it looks native 4k in the hour I've played thus far. No blurriness, no jaggies, clean and crisp.
DLSS is indeed black magic. I've seen DLSS 3.5 and 4 in action. This looks closer to 4 with the only telltale signs being some hair dithering.
I have seen every single pre-release youtube footage of this game, and it comes nowhere close to how good the game actually looks.
There was one point where I wondered at what point did Nintendo sell its soul to the devil to get this console capable of this?
It's completely changed my perception of this console and the kind of games it can potentially run.
You guys may have bought it as a companion console only for 1st party games, but it can legitimately stand on its own.
Now in terms of Switch 2 specific features, they seem to want to revive the Wii era lol.
You can make it play like Red Steel with motion sword attacks. There's gestures for reloading and gyro aiming. Honestly very fun but I think I might stick to gyro aiming but normal combat controls.
It does feel satisfying whopping a katana on a dudes head with motion though.
