Err...this is kind of scary, but heads up to anybody who runs into the problem I just had with my Wii U Gamepad...it needed to be charged so i plugged it in and the charger wasn't doing anything, so i turned the system off and then the Gamepad refused to turn back on or charge..same as these guys say here:

Well this sucks...I tried the battery trick but my Gamepad is still not working.

Does anybody know where to order these batteries from? I tried their website and don't see it listed, just the battery cover.

OMG Edge that is horrible. My pad is charging all the time, its on its tenth charge or so. The battery is pathetic. I just hope the pads dont freak out and die.

Sorry to hear that Edge. That may be one of the first times I ever heard of a Nintendo product messing up to honest. Christ I dropped my gamecube down a flight of stairs once and that fucker still worked fine. There must be some kind of warranty where Nintendo will just give you a new controller though isn't there? Or some kind of store warranty from where you bought it?

Nintendo started making a list of hard drives that are compatible. I might just wait and get a specific one. GAF probably has ones that work in this HDD thread they had. Nintendo should have called this the Super Wii. Like in the Japanese ads.

Iwata confirmed they are working on it and it should work on the gamepad screen. I hope they will have an option to download U shop versions of Wii VC games so I can play on the gamepad screen. Seriously it would be amazing to play Cybernator and R-Type 3 etc on the pad screen. It's 480p with a high PPI ratio so they would look great too  - and the controller has the SNES button layout already.

Do not buy shit. You bought a new system and it is your right to have it work. Call Nintendo, go on the tech forums, email nintendo customer support do whatever. They have to sort it out.

I don't get the pad battery life criticisms? I hear it lasts between 3-5 hours which is similar to 3DS or Vita. It's got a huge screen and backlight and is constantly transmitting high definition wireless signals (including video) both ways. It emits stereo sound from the speakers and is using all manner of in built cameras and gyros. Also think about the tech inside the gamepad. Michel Ancel said:

I would be cool if it ran without charge for ages but I think the only problem you are having is that you play console games at home for hours at a time, all day long. If you were to play the 3DS like that you would have to charge it like that too.

I leave my laptop plugged in all day long and just unplug it if I need to go elsewhere in the house. If I need to stay elsewhere in the house I take the adaptor with me. Why not do this with Wii U?

Or I guess if it really bugs you buy this Nyko 10 hour battery.
