Capcom is reportedly working on new Dead Rising with Frank West

11/30/25 - Capcom is reportedly working on a new Dead Rising game with the return of protagonist Frank West, according to MP1ST.com. The report is partially confirmed by VGC.

It is a new main part, not a remaster or remake. The plot is said to take place mainly on a large, closed film studio lot in Hollywood, where an antagonist forces survivors to deadly tests in order to shoot his "perfect film". Capcom has not confirmed the information.

Damn, Metroid Prime 4 is getting either 8 and 9s out of 10, or 3 stars out of 5, 6/10 reviews

How has Metroid Prime 4 got "amazing HDR" on switch 2 when we've been repeatedly told HDR is bad on Switch 2?

They say the HDR is one of the best uses in the industry apparently (havent watched it yet)

Damnit do I have to start HDR fiddling again?

Seems like mp4 is sufficiently metroidy in the 'dungeons' but the other bits are a lixed bag. The bike sections seem to work, but are disconnected from the rest of the game.

Yeah, seems a bit mixed on the Metroid Prime 4 reviews. Still looking forward to getting this in a couple of days myself though.

Sounds like Prime 4 will have a lot of similarities to Prime 3 with pacing issues and unnecessary elements. If the core gameplay is good and scratches that Metroid itch then I will be more than happy. I just hope the npcs are not that annoying. Funny, its the new additions that most reviewers tend to dislike like Retro would've bern better off just Copying Prime 1

Prime 3 was my favourite.

I never understood this general sentiment from some gamers that the OG was so great and 2 and 3 were "bad" or less worthy.

OG Metroid Prime is my favorite Metroid game and the only one I could be bothered to finish.

MP2's dark World sucked and ruined the game for me.

MP3 I just remember getting bored with it at some point and quitting. I'd like to give that one another try, but I likely won't unless Nintendo remasters it.

Eidos Montreal announces new job cuts and further cuts in the pipeline

03.12.25 - Eidos Montreal has cut jobs again. Several former employees reported in recent days that they are no longer working for the studio. At least a dozen people are affected.

The studio had already laid off 75 employees in March, according to a statement at the time due to expiring project orders. According to several sources, numerous projects have now been discontinued.

Eidos Montreal is focused on working with Microsoft and Xbox, including Grounded 2 and Fable. In addition, there is an internal project from 2019, the costs of which, according to sources, can no longer be recouped. Further job cuts are expected for the period after completion of this work

Eidos Montreal is said to have discarded revival of Legacy of Kain

03.12.25 - According to several CVs of former employees, Eidos Montreal has canceled a dark fantasy action game that was supposed to revisit a well-known vampire brand.

The clues come from profiles of a gameplay director and an associate design director, who report job cuts and state that several projects have been terminated.

From the description, it is clear that the game in question was intended to continue an established series, suggesting Legacy of Kain, without the studio explicitly confirming the title

Monkey Island creator stops new RPG due to lack of funding

12/02/25 - Ron Gilbert is ending the development of his Zelda-like 2D RPG after he failed to receive viable funding despite intensive talks. This is reported by Eurogamer.

He says that offered contracts were economically unattractive and publishers currently classify a pixel-based action role-playing game as not very profitable. Gilbert points to the high resource requirements of an open role-playing project and emphasizes that he has neither the means nor the time to implement such a project on his own.

He also does not currently consider crowdfunding to be a reliable option, as corresponding platforms such as Kickstarter have lost much of their effectiveness: In his estimation, the industry is increasingly oriented towards data-driven business models, which leads to more standardized production

Pretty good reviews for Octopath Traveler 0. I’ll be picking that up tomorrow along with Metroid Prime 4.

Kickstarters are not the instant success that so many of them were 10 years ago or so, but honestly if he's not willing to try that, I would question just how good the project actually is. Crowdfunding can still be insanely successful, particularly when it's attached to a known IP. I just donated to one that's going to a graphic novel for Dungeon crawler Carl, and they hit their goal in 24 hours. There is certainly an art to being successful at it, but it's not hard to figure out. So yeah, not even trying is a little suspicious.

In the world of gen Z gaming, Fortnite just released an entirely new map, and I'll be damned if it's not a lot of fun. It's going for a California theme complete with each level starting by surfing to your destination while the Beach Boys play for the background music. I'll probably get bored with this in about a week, but I've enjoyed dipping my toes back into the Battle Royale waters.

Mario kart World free Roam feels like it's missing something. It's cool to drive around and see the the tracks from a different perspective, but it gets boring pretty fast (and I'm someone who enjoyed spenting dozens of hours just randomly wandering the world in Zelda BOTW).

I ran through all the 50cc knockout tour tracks. As usual for 50cc, it's way too easy, but I do like the concept a lot. Looking forward to playing it on harder difficulties.

Online knockout mode is where it's at. I've hardly touched any of the other modes.
