OCTOPATH TRAVELER 0 REVIEWS

Noisypixel (100/100)

Regardless of its genre transformation, Octopath Traveler 0 is hands-down one of the best RPGs ever made. Its storytelling, characterizations, soundtrack, and densely interconnected gameplay loop are masterclass, even if it takes more than a little while for everything to click. Honestly, Square's HD-2D output has been exceptional, and I'm eager to see where these efforts continue to grow.

CGMagazine (8/10)

Octopath Traveller 0 masterfully transforms the once mobile game into a fully fleshed JRPG romp that feels as feature-rich and engaging as the prior console and PC releases.

Destructoid (85/100)

We travel back to the continent of Orsterra in Octopath Traveler 0, but the franchise doesn't just return to its old ways and slap a new number on it. 0 is full of new features, companions, and collectibles to find, making for a gameplay experience that truly pushes the series in a new and exciting direction—and it's all done against a gorgeous backdrop that will have you hooked for hours to come.

Gamespot (8/10)

This is how it feels to play Octopath Traveler 0: a seemingly endless pattern of ever-deeper combat challenges and strategic wrinkles, slowly revealing themselves to you over and over through dozens of hours. I've seen credits, in a sense, but there's still so much more to do and explore. It feels like a game that could go on forever. I just might let it.

He is not as annoying as I thought he would be. That first boss in Fury Green was freaking good.

I saw on DF it's a locked 1080p/120. 120fps on a Nintendo game is nuts. Never thought I'd see the day.

I'd likely prefer 4K/60, though.

The EG review mentions that graphics get a boost at 60fps, so that's how I'll be playing as well, whenever I get around to buying MP4.  120fps is nice, but I don't think it's neccessairy for a Metroid Prime game.

I find the rumour that the game was split into MP4 and MP5 because Retro was too ambitious to be hard to believe.  Would Nintendo really risk developing both games simultaneously in a franchise that was never a top seller and has been dormant for nearly 2 decades?  If so I highly anticipate F-zero GY and GZ, to release in 2027 and 2029.

Have you tried mouse mode or HDR on vs off?

You can play 120fps portably.

They've kept making Metroid games though and have left Fzero to die since GX.

If Nash Weedle is to be believed (he has got quite a few things right lately)

I think its more likely that the pitch from Retro was too ambitious and Nintendo told them to scale it back. And then to work excess stuff into a future game.

So maybe Prime 4 was in active production while a smaller team was simultaneosly doing pre-production on Prime 5, story, art, engine testing?

Nintendo has been taking gameplay elements from F-zero and Wave Race adding them to Mario Kart for years now. I'd like to see new games for both series, but I doubt it will happen. Prove me wrong, Nintendo!
