As suspected Re7 on switch 2 is 1080p 60fps docked and 900p 60fps handheld.
The ps4 version was 1080p 60fps. Why is there no real bump considering switch 2 which can produce better than ps4 pro visuals?
PS4 Pro Difference: The PS4 Pro version runs at a higher, improved resolution (roughly 1620p-1800p) while also targeting 60 FPS.
The tiny difference in resolution between handheld and docked is always super suspicious as it means they arent really pushing docked in any real way. And more modern games are higher resolution on switch 2.
Game looks soft to me, DLSS should be doing a better job.
"If you’re Satya, you have a hammer called gen AI and every single problem is a nail. Okay, so who do you put in charge of games? A games person? No, because in the world of Satya, everything is a gen AI problem, so you put a gen AI person in charge of games with a training model, with boot camps for her to train her like you train an AI model, to bring gen AI into a position to revolutionize games.
Whether or not you believe that’s possible, I think, is the question of whether or not you believe she can succeed in this. Whether or not you believe that’s possible is the deciding factor in whether or not you believe Xbox will continue to exist and what you believe Microsoft will do with Xbox."
Leaked listings for Grand Theft Auto 6 suggest a brutal price hike might be on the horizon, with one retailer pegging the Xbox Series X edition at a staggering $125. Just when we thought modern gaming couldn’t get more expensive, the internet has decided to panic over placeholders that cost more than a weekly grocery shop.
Rockstar Games has remained notoriously tight-lipped about the specifics of their next crime simulator, but that hasn’t stopped the rumour mill from straining its gears. Following Take-Two’s recent “highly confident” confirmed launch date of November 19, 2026, anxiety regarding the “GTA tax” has ramped up. We’ve already survived the PS5 price hike, so the community is understandably twitchy about further wallet abuse. With development costs ballooning, the fear isn’t just about a standard $70 tag anymore—it’s about how much further the industry thinks it can push us.
I went into a specialized magazine store in the city a few weeks back, wanting to pick up an Edge magazine but they had none. I hope it had just sold out and it wasn't a case of them not stocking it anymore.
Microsoft Gaming CEO Asha Sharma shows zero tolerance for "bad AI"
21.02.26 - Asha Sharma was named the new CEO of Microsoft Gaming yesterday after Phil Spencer retired and Sarah Bond stepped down. Sharma previously led Microsoft's CoreAI division and now takes over responsibility for Xbox and the company's gaming division.
In an interview with Variety, she explained her stance on artificial intelligence in games. She emphasizes that the industry is currently in a turbulent phase, but is optimistic about the future.
Sharma calls for clear quality standards for AI applications in games and underlines that human creativity is still crucial for good stories. While AI is an important part of the industry and will continue to play a role, new growth opportunities must be designed responsibly, with the human contribution remaining at the heart of storytelling.
Sharma says her stance is simple: she has "zero tolerance for bad AI." It sees it as a central task to protect existing strengths and drive innovation in a targeted manner in order to offer both players and developers a consistent and high-quality experience.
Almost RE9 time! People are going to be blown away by how it runs on switch 2 I heard, its impressive. Reviews are out tomorrow, expecting a high score, maybe 90+. Seems like the game is amazing, so exciting!!
02/25/26 - Matt Booty, CCO of Xbox, has emphasized in an interview with Windows Central that Xbox will not be a pure publisher. Instead, games will continue to be developed in close partnership with the Microsoft platform.
"Our studio system is fully designed to act as a first-party provider. We're not just set up as a publisher," explained Matt Booty. "A central part of our partnership with the Microsoft platform is early involvement in hardware decisions – including the work we've done to get games like Gears of War to work optimally on new devices like the Xbox Ally.
This is firmly anchored in our structure, and we are sticking to it. As a first-party game publisher, we are clearly committed to working closely with our platform team."
Xenoblade Chronicles X: Digital Foundry expresses concerns about graphics quality
02/24/26 - Digital Foundry expresses concerns about the graphics quality of Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition on Switch 2 in a new video.
Despite the increase to 60 fps in TV and handheld mode, the display seems technically immature. The team analysed the implementation and reported visible weaknesses in the image reconstruction. Still images appear sharp, details smear in motion; thin objects such as cables warp.
The internal resolution is apparently below 1080p before upscaling takes place. Indications point to SMAA, but the result does not meet the usual standard. Instead of full DLSS integration, easier AI upscaling will probably be used. Although the higher frame rate significantly improves the reaction speed, the visual compromises are considerable. It remains to be seen whether Nintendo will improve with updates.
Damn. Sounds like the Xenoblade Chronicles X Switch 2 upgrade is pretty disappointing. I only checked it out briefly in docked mode and thought it looked fine. Should play some more to fully see what’s going on in it. Hopefully they fix it up.
Jeff Grubb: "Unofficial Gran Turismo 7 version of PlayStation ran on Switch 2"
02/25/26 - Supposedly, an unofficial port of Gran Turismo 7 (PS5, PS4) was running on the Switch 2. This was reported by insider Jeff Grubb in the podcast Game Mess Decides.
He had heard that a version of the racing game was running on the new Nintendo console. However, there are no concrete plans for a release - Grubb emphasized that he does not expect a market launch on the Switch 2.
At the same time, he questioned Sony's platform strategy: If Sony is actually looking into a conversion for Nintendo, there should actually be a PC version: "Then just bring it for the PC. If you're already thinking about the Switch 2, the PC should be a matter of course. And yet it has not yet been released for the PC. Strange," says Grubb.
Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade on Switch 2 is based on PS5 version, not PS4
02/24/26 - The Switch 2 version of Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade is based on the PS5 version, not the PS4, as confirmed by Square Enix's director Naoki Hamaguchi.
Some players suspected that the port could have come from the PS4 version, but it turned out that the developers used the PS5 version as a basis. However, technical adjustments were necessary: On the Xbox Series S there were memory limits, on the Switch 2 there were performance limitations in handheld mode. The developers still achieved a stable 30 fps on both platforms.
Koei Tecmo Announces Organizational Changes at Team Ninja and Gust
24.02.26 - Koei Tecmo is restructuring its development studios Team Ninja and Gust as of 01.04.26. According to the company, the group is reacting to changed conditions and adapting its organization. The
central change is the transfer of Team Ninja's Division 1 to the Atelier-Studio Gust; it will operate as Gust Division 2 in the future. The unit, led by Yasunori Sakuda, was primarily responsible for live service games such as Venus Vacation Prism: Dead or Alive Xtreme, as well as the co-development of Atelier Resleriana.
The remaining Division 2 of Team Ninja under Kohei Shibata will be split up and run as the new Division 1 and 2 in the future. Koei Tecmo did not comment on future projects. In the lead, Sakuda and Shibata remain in their respective roles.
Fallout 4 comes to Nintendo Switch 2 with 3 graphics modes: 30fps, 40fps (only at 12hz), and 60fps.
The 30fps mode renders at 1440p with a higher level of detail.
The 60fps mode renders at dynamic 1080p with lower settings, similar to the PS4 graphics configuration.
The 40fps mode uses a configuration similar to the 30fps mode, but with a lower resolution of 1080p.

Some great Switch 2 ports recently. Be interesting to see Re9. Village looks particularly good. And the system has been getting quite a few more 60fps games or modes.
I would always choose a quality mode myself.
I thought Fallout 4 would be junk based on the first trailer but it turned out well. It doesnt have gyro or mouse mode though so no buy.
I dont get why games released on PC which obviously have mouse support don't have the same controls available on Switch 2.
Animal Crossings Switch 2 update sold me completely on mouse mode, its so fast, accurate and versatile. Still prefer gyro for FPS though.

Now I have to check out Village comparisons.
That Re Requiem bundle is a crazy good deal. Re7 and 8 for $20?
Honestly doesn't sound good for the xbox brand.
The video I saw was poor quality
BTW did anyone see China sword wielding robots at the spring festival? Did no one see the Terminator?
Yeah, it was really impressive how those robots kept their balance on those flips.
