If I see a good texture I literally walk up to it and stare, move the camera about.
If its bad then it breaks the immersion. In Cyberpunk they paid so much attention to textures you would never reasonably expect a developer to concentrate on. It's all these little details piled on top of each other that makes the world so immersive for me.
Back to Outlaws I think something needs to be patched regarding the hdr as it wont let you move any of the HDR adjustment sliders.
If I ever to decide to get a Switch 2, I'll definitely wait for an OLED model.
The screen is really great, the colour on DK Bananza is searing and the clarity and frame rate is great. At first when I dropped from tv to handheld screen I was disappointed.
But when you play these games as they are, just portable without directly and instantly coming off the tv they look great.
I think you can't adjust the in game hdr on Outlaws full stop. You can do it system wide on switch 2 when playing on the tv.
It's a bit odd when the title screen for Outlaws looks colourful and then the game loads and its more muted. I have tweaked brightness so its better now than the default.
So Outlaws at first feels like Assassin's Creed in a Star Wars universe. Not a bad thing.
Some of the mechanics could be better, it actually reminds me of why Splinter Cell Blacklist was so good and how nothing I've played since has come close to the stealth offered there.
So after the linear scripted beginning I landed on the first open world and it was something of a wow moment.
The lighting looked great, the draw distance endless. It ran perfectly even flying around on the speeder.
There was tons of foliage and wind swept elements. I hit the first community, the raytacing was excellent, barely any artifacts and everything looked more solid and natural.
Aside from the storm Troopers it doesn't feel very Star Wars to me.
The game is okay, pretty decent. There's nothing to complain about so far but I've barely got into it. There was this weird hacking game that was poorly explained so I turned it off in the options.
My God I've never seen so many options in a game.
Still haven't played it on the tv.
Still wondering about shooting when driving on switch. Why has no one worked out that a better control scheme would be to handle acceleration and direction with the left stick and then leave the right hand free for gyro aiming.
It's like some relic from the dual stick aiming era that we're left with janky on vehicle shooting.
Graphics look much better on the tv, raytracing is actually good, I thought it would be hobo RT riddled with imperfections but its fine.
Lighting is good. Performance is rock solid.
I stick have no idea why some people think it looks better thank Cyberpunk, it doesn't. Maybe if they released a high resolution texture pack. Even then I doubt it.
Driving across the badlands in a nomad car in Cyberpunk looks far better to me. And the Stadium in Phantom Liberty looks far better too.
But Outlaws seems a completely solid port, flawless framerate, decent graphics and gyro aiming. Nothing I can complain about.
So what are we expecting or hopeful for with the new Direct? Besides Metroid's release date? Its Mario's 40th anniversary, maybe a new 3D compilation? Could they tease a new Zelda? They do tend to announce Zelda games evrn if its eary in the development phase.
Having played a lot more of Outlaws on the tv now, its feeling a lot better.
Graphics are decent, some of the ray tracing really pops. Still restricted from the open world at the moment. If you dare stray from your objective it forces you back with a warning.
Your enemy stealth vision isnt great, it should be clear and easy to see but its dark and very subtle.
One bizarre thing is that the game resets my settings for film grain off and motion aiming on.
I suspect its because I've closed the game in between auto saves. You can only manually save if you log into your Ubisoft account.
The game so far, in the cities feel linear, but then even more open areas feel strangely linear too.
There aren't a ton of stealth options so far or gadgets to use. Im hoping as I play more I get more goodies and will be able to increase my crouched running speed.
Definitely would like to see something for Mario’s 40th. A Metroid Prime 4 release date. Perhaps a Metroid Prime 2 and 3 remaster. New Monolith Soft game would be awesome.
Been cruising about the open world on my speeder bike.
Now im more impressed, very large world with very nice lighting and all so smooth.
Found some quirks with combat though. I took out a dude from behind in a dark corner and his mates could see it, despite them being miles away then they dog piled me.
When hiding behind cover sometimes you get shot and rhe damage warning indicator says you're being shot from behind. I turn and no one is there, at which point the enemies I turned my back on, shoot me from behind ironically.
Gyro aiming only works in ADS mode so when the shit hits the fan, you can't run and shoot freely like you would in an any fps. Feels very limiting.
Texture Inspector. Lol

Looking forward to seeing this upcoming Nintendo Direct. Really hoping we at least get a release date for Metroid Prime 4.

Still have yet to check it out on the tv.

No colour issue on the tv it looks fine.

They might show an early look at Zelda or/and a Monolithsoft game.
But I think you'll see suprise ports releasing soon like Cronos.
Re7 is likely as leakers are reporting.

My TV doesn't remember devices and settings sometimes. Turns out the sharpness had to be upped again manually.
SW Outlaws now looks very sharp and high resolution. Pretty nice.
