So with Dk Banaza developer confirmed to be the Mario Odyssey dev team... what does that mean for when we'll see a 3D Mario? : Not a good sign.
There's been some shady non details in the whole conversation.
There were some inside info saying that it was a younger team guided by Tokyo EPD that was a spin off from the Odyssey team that would exclusively develop DK games from now on.
It's been 8 years since Odyssey so maybe they've been developing Mario and DK in tandem.

Nintendo has been sketchy when it comes to who is developing the game. They first refused to tell anyone.
Then said it was a team in Tokyo, which made VGC assume it's the Mario Odyssey team in Tokyo.
Then they said something like, from the people who developed Mario Odyssey. But when pressed for details they refused, or didn't know : to confirm the actual staff members.
"Young Americans Game Spending is Dropping SHARPLY. Year-over-year spending on games has declined almost 25% among 18-24 year-olds" -gamesindustry.biz news
Good for them! Vote with their wallets. $$$ is the only thing gaming companies listen to anyway.

"Oh, now that PD has been canceled, I can freely say that the public showing last year was largely bunk. None of that was gameplay and all CD has been doing on the game is making exciting vertical slices with little to no foundation. I am not shocked at all it got the axe."

Maybe but I'm suspicious. Crystal Dynamics was also helping with that project. Why would two devs teams only be doing vertical slices?
They might release a Gamepass HDMI streaming stick but I don't have any faith they're going to release a real, MS developed next gen Xbox.
I fear what Sony will do without the MS competition. I'm not opposed to waiting until 2030 for a PS6, though, as long as it's not $900.
That's pretty much what I'm thinking - some kind of plug-in or dongle to play Game pass. But I wouldn't be surprised if they also make some kind of Xbox branded gaming PC. But I don't really see them going down the path of standalone consoles anymore.
Sony's path forward is going to be interesting. All the rumors suggest they're going to release some sort of handheld to get back into the Japanese market. But without Xbox around, I wonder if they would just forego that and be happy with owning the worldwide market for higher powered consoles.

I don't really see that as them voting with their wallet, rather they're just playing what they've grown up with. That whole generation grew up with free to play games, cheaper games that get a lifetime worth of updates, and subscription services. $15 a month and a couple microtransactions still isn't even half of the cost of one new game. If you're happy with that kind of stuff, why switch?
Exacty. Gaming has changed where kids are totally happy with Fortnight, Minecraft and Roblox. These games provide thousands of hours of playability while spending close to nothing. Roblox is still big in my house. My son has a nightly kickball contest where he is the star and rarely misses it.
I'd say the chances that the Xbox Series generation is the last hardware console from MS is almost assured.

I am hopeful that this might be true.
The worst game in existence.

The price of a tube ticket has gone from £3.80 as a teenager to £16.60 for a day ticket.
£10 for parking. Crazy shit.

It's being made by a team of AI programs.

Eight hundred ninety nine U.S. dollars.
That's acceptable.

I think they will skip hatdware altogether and make Game Pass accessible to their competitors.
