I received my Dipatch refund funds and spent a small portion of them on Wavetale, which was 90% off at €2.99.  It's an indie platformer set on a sea, where your character kind of surfs on the waves?  I'm not sure what it really is yet, but it has a nice style to it, although resolution could have been better.  Then again, it's a Switch1 game and I doubt the developer patched in improved resolution for Switch2.

Based on the graphical style I figured it'd be a game from a dev from the mediteranean, but it's actually a bunch of Swedes.  That cought me off-guard.

Man that movie is bad.

If it weren't for the central gimmick and how the posters look, this should be a flop.

Hideki Sato, designer of all Sega consoles, passed away

16.02.26 - Hideki Sato, former president and designer of almost all Sega consoles, has died at the age of 77. This is reported by Beep2021.

Sato led the design team for Sega hardware, including Master System, Mega Drive, Saturn, and Dreamcast. He joined the company in 1971, served as president between 2001 and 2003, and left Sega in 2008. His contribution included both arcade and home consoles and shaped the company's technical development over several decades.

Asphalt Legends Unite - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition available today

16.02.26 - Gameloft will release the free-to-play racing game Asphalt Legends Unite - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition today in Europe on the eShop. Asphalt Legends Unite is already available for PS5, Xbox Series, PS4, Xbox One, Switch and PC.

The Switch 2 version supports up to 1440p resolution in TV mode and 1080p in handheld mode. In addition, the game runs stably at 60 fps in both modes and offers improved graphics effects.

Asphalt Legends Unite is an action-packed arcade racing game that invites players to prove themselves in intense competitions on the road. It's about competing together with other players worldwide, performing spectacular stunts and fighting for victory in hypercars.

With international online multiplayer, players can challenge up to seven opponents from around the world in thrilling races, and even play split-screen with friends. Joining racing communities can unlock exclusive rewards and move up the leaderboard.

PS6 reportedly doesn't just rely on AMD RDNA 5

16.02.26 - According to the leaker KeplerL2, which is considered reliable, the PlayStation 6 will not rely entirely on AMD's RDNA 5 graphics architecture.

KeplerL2 noted that the PS5's inner workings are already a hybrid solution of RDNA1 and ray tracing, and that the "PS6 is not entirely based on RDNA 5" either. Sony has not confirmed or commented on the information.

Bought that game 3 times. Everytime it hard crashed after the Penguin boss battle. And nothing would work to shift the game on.

Two interesting articles today.

Firstly the Paper Mario TTYD contender article. Interesting as they say its even bettwr than Bug Fables - Escape from Ever After is the game they're talking about.

Second article is David Jaffe mauling the 2D God of War game.

When I saw the trailer, even as a non fan I was like, why doesnt he look like Kratos? It's such an iconic look its weird that you play as this generic looking character.

Then it got me thinking about all these massive franchises having indie like 2D de-makes announced. Like the Rogue Prince of Persia, the 2D soul reaver, maybe even the new Castlevania game.

I know Castlevania was originally a 2D games but it kind of follows the trend of publishers trying to maybe steal some indie thunder and... maybe failing a bit?

Like David Jaffe said, GOW 2D has Blasphemous. Castlevania looks less like Castlevania than something like The Last Faith.

It worked with Ninja Gaiden and Shinobi though.

Yeah, that God of War: Son of Sparta game doesn’t look good to me either. I’ll pass on that.

Sons of Sparta looks like a dried dog turd. I get that not every game in a series needs to be a high budget AAA experience. But you can still put together a nice art style and some clever gameplay. This just looks like a mid-level indie title. Something that you check out with a PlayStation plus subscription, but nothing to pay for.

I dont have anything against the God of War game, but I would just want the main character at least to look recognisable. Maybe mid way through the game he changes? I have zero knowledge of GOW lore.

These big budget games having 2D games feels like they're trying to chase indie success, but it looks and feels contrived sometimes.

Then on the other hand, made with enough care and you get a new Shinobi Art of Vengeance.

The sony state of play was great, Konami is back!!! New Castlevania, new SH, MGS4 ported finally. Lots of great games shown. God of War remakes will be awesome, but dont care for the new 2D one. There are way too many better metroidvanias to play.

Almost done with the RE playthrough and only a week and a few days till RE9!!!

I tried Asphalt Unite Switch 2 build.

Didn't try on the tv, handheld it looked worse than on switch OLED. Desaturated colours. No visible signs of improvement. Resolution is supposed to be higher but I couldn't tell.

Meanwhile the already bloated menu and token options have been further convoluted, with additional currency.

There's a great game buried here under endless menus and shop options. I played so much of this game I can no longer stomach getting 1 or 2 cards for a vehicle drip fed to me over days and weeks.

It has taken Konami too long to port MGS4. I wonder if 5 is in the works?

Might not have been a particularly easy port given the nature of the PS3. MGS5 is available via backwards compatibility but I can see them perhaps doing a Switch 2 version in the future.

I'd try it but I'm not buying Nintendo's overpriced required screen accessory. PC VB emulators allow for flat screen play too; Nintendo shouldve allowed it too.

It comes with my online subscription, but I sure won't be spending $100 on a headset. Even the cheap, cardboard version is too much.
