So... I'm playing Quest for Glory 4 this weekend. Probably about halfway done. Still a damn good game 30 years later.

I started a playthrough of Those Who Remain and Dead Island 2. Those Who Remain is a creepy, psychological thriller where you make you way through a town where the darkness is your enemy . The atmosphere and setting are great but the gameplay is a little clunky at times. Still quite fun to play

I played quite a bit of Civ 6 and a few hours of Dungeon Keeper and Heroes of M&M3 this weekend.

It has been all about Final Fantasy VII Rebirth for me again this weekend. Currently finishing up Chapter 10. Am really enjoying this game. There’s been some twists and turns to the story and I’m very intrigued about where it’s going.

Well I’ll be damned. Someone making use of that NES port.

I saw that I figured our prior conversation must have been provoked by a news story I missed. So that was just a coincidence?

not a coincidence. This forum has been a fertile ground for brilliant ideas that the industry has been taking advantage of for years now. We are why StarTropics 3 is under secret development right now.

I've been playing the Splatoon3 Tower of Order expansion.  While it boils down to a lot of repetition, and that the basic setup as a roguelite is fundamentally lacking from what limited understanding I have from the genre, the moment to moment gameplay can still be very tense and satisfying.  It is also entertaining how, with the different available upgrades, what once seemed like a daunting task, rapidly becomes a complete walk in the park.  I don't condone this kind of game design, but like I said, the actual gameplay smooths this over.  After a few runs the only real threat is coming from my own complacency and the final boss, who remains a challenge no matter what upgrades you have and will often twart the best runs.

I wanted to play Tinykin on the big screen so I had a break and started a shorter game on the side. I saw it for like $4 before and as an adventure game fan, was interested. I saw a video review with some lady telling us how cozy it made her feel. But in retrospect it was a fairly terrible review in that it failed to convey the strongest aspects of the game. Yakwaxlips, an adventure game youtuber recommended it to me, after I'd already bought it.

When I started I was immediately happy. The voice acting is outstanding, packed with character and humour. The pixel art is excellent, the controls simple to understand. The puzzles are just enough to test you without being annoying.

But most of all, it feels like a 90s Lucasarts point and click game (even though you directly move your character)

I couldn't be happier with this game.

Microsoft has created another custom Xbox Series X, this time theming after Fallout in celebration of the upcoming Amazon show.

Revealed in a post on X/Twitter, below, the console will be given away to one lucky fan who follows Xbox and retweets the post. The prize includes more than just the custom Xbox Series X, however, as it also bundles in a controller (which can actually be bought) and a custom vault to keep the hardware in.

This is a seemingly working safe with various bits of Fallout branding on it. It's marked as Vault 33, which is the same bunker where the Fallout TV show's protagonist comes from. Interestingly, it also has "Fort Knox" written on it, which is only mentioned in Bethesda's game universe in Fallout 76.

Further travails of a vegan in regional Australia.

I went to lunch today with my cousin's husband (I rarely eat lunch during the week, maybe twice a year) and went to a restaurant in town for the first time (after going to the Indian restaurant which was "CLOSED FOR LUNCH" - no joke). Looking a the menu there were no vegetarian options (let alone vegan).

Me: Hi, First time here, what do you have for vegans?

Clerk: Ummmmm... we have a chicken burger, and the lamb cutlets. Or you could try the chicken schnitzel.

Me: I'll have small fries and a diet coke please.

Little did you realise that they were actually vegan fake-meat versions of those dishes.

It's probably true. I hear that they use emu for meat-based vegetables.

I'm 3 levels down in Tinykin, 15 hrs in.

This game is so good. Its the best Rare style collectothon platformer Ive played since the 90s.

I may play Yooka Laylee after this.

The levels are so fun, and really sell the whole shrunk down, tiny person thing. There's a distinct 80s vibe to it to, with vcr tapes, vinyl, E.T posters.

There's a whole insect society built, they've repurposed all these human items like paper cups, rulers, floppy discs.

Flipping 1080p TV I bought foe retro gaming went kaput after barely being used for 2 years. Philips won't repair it cause its out of warranty.

Not sure you guys in America know of Philips. Used to be a somewhat decent electronics brand. Now the only thing they still make are toothbrushes and hair dryers. Yet they licence their name out for third parties to use on their shoddy products. Of course I didn't know this till far too late.

Now it's really difficult to find a small 1080p set with appropriate features set.

At least I the US, Philips primarily focuses on making medical equipment. Ultrasound equipment, heart monitors, various oxygen, monitors and equipment, etc. I haven't heard them really even spoken up into consumer electronics space for a while though. Sounds like they might have just shifted their focus to the medical stuff where the real money is and went out the name to any other company that wants to make home electronics.

I did have an excellent vegan chicken schnitzel on Sunday at an Irish Pub of all places. However, in this case, I don't think so!

Been working a bunch, overtime is nice pay.  Still playing loads of FF7 which is amazing, it started off slow but it's really picking up. These last few bosses and all the materia and characters I've unlocked has solidified this game as the best combat system in FF history to me. It mixed ATB combat strategy with real time action so damn well, it's brilliant. Every boss is an absolute blast to fight against, all of them with different strategies.

Rebirth is basically half combat and half mini game. This game has more mini games than Nintendo land. It's ridiculous and I love it!
