This weekend I spent time rescuing Zeus' children in Immortal Fenyx Rising. What about you, Greek heroes?

This weekend I went on a long hike across and island with a crying baby.

Crying babies on long trips are the worst. Good thing you had buddies that you canntake turns with carrying the baby.

Mostly played Monster Hunter World on PS5. Recently subscribed to PS+ Essential and it’s currently a freebie there for subscribers so thought I’d try it out. Such a great game but even better with short load times and smooth gameplay in performance mode. Final Fantasy XV Royal Edition is also a freebie there so checked that out as well. Again, very good game that’s even better thanks to the hardware. Already played these on Xbox One but will likely play through them again on the PS5.

I was stuck next to a baby on 11 hr flight.

It was horrendous. Apart from the crying the baby threw up. So the stench of vomit stuck there the whole flight.

And the mother thought it was a perfectly normal thing to slap her baby in the face when it bothered her.

Holy crap, look at those Splatoon 3 numbers. I guess it's going to be safe to say finding a match won't be difficult.

Still playing Xenoblade 2 but just got Splatoon 3.

As I feared they started linking story progression with field skills. Basically leaving you ducking around trying to level up field skills by fulfilling specific requirements.

Some are rather easy to fulfill, some seem impossible. And a couple appear broken, such as this requirement to put this blade on 4 merc missions.

Despite him completing at least 4,it still says 0/4 on the field skills page.

Anyway, once unlocked I continued and it's been pretty epic since then. I feel like this game is the unloved step child of the Xeno series.

Mostly it's their own fault, poorly explained tutorials, less than stellar graphics, a fiddly map screen.

But it's still a great game and fully dedicating your time to it has brought me 80 hrs of joy so far.

Anyone tried an OLED switch?

My switch is a bit battered over the years and the Dock is showing up the occasional visual distortion. I have so many games I will be playing this thing for years to come.

So upgrading makes sense.

But, I'm worried about what the screen will look like as it's larger but the same resolution. So I'm worried the picture will look softer.

I thought of grabbing the Splatoon 3 bundle with the OLED model, but I decided I loved my money more.

Everyone I've heard about it so far says the screen is much better than the original, so I wouldn't worry too much about pixel density.

I played a bit of Splatoon3 yesterday.  The 4 first levels of the single player campaign were little more than tutorials.  Being killed by fur looks hilarious, but other than that there's little I can say about it.  The Kaptain himself seemed to be a bit taken aback by how similar this all is to previous games, I certainly don't disagree with him.

As for Turf Wars, it's still a bloody good time.  I like how, if you have a save from Splatoon2, you get 3 free tickets to choose any weapon of your liking.  This means there's a good diversity of weapons in play from day1 and I'm happy that my .52Gal has returned with the splash wall and something that's probably as close to Splatoon1's Killer Whail as we'll ever get.  Being able to choose where you respawn doesn't really change the game.  The area you can land in is pretty limited.

My Switch is still in excellent shape but I have thought about replacing it with the OLED model but then I keep thinking that Nintendo might be bringing out a more powerful upgrade or successor soon and I decide to wait. I’ve heard nothing but praise for the OLED’s screen though.

I saw the Switch OLED at my local Target store. I could not see a difference between it and my old Switch. Maybe I could if they were side-by-side, but that wouldn't be worth it to me to upgrade. I'll wait for a more powerful system instead.

Hmm, depends if the next console is backwards compatible.

I was going to sell my old switch anyway so OLED would be half paid for.

Ive got 3 nephew's and they've dropped it several times. It has a small bit chipped off the case. One of the vent grills has come off.

Now the docks is having some half second distortions occasionally I think I need to replace it or get it fixed.

there's a couple of settings that need to be enabled I've seen on reviews for the screen to be optimised.

This vivid console colours option.

I think it would be a huge mistake for Nintendo to not have their next console backwards compatible with the Switch but who knows. This is Nintendo after all and they can do very strange things.
