Hope you guys have a speedy recovery!

The cough and extra brainfog lasted for a couple of weeks, but I haven't had any long term lingering effects...other than the broken collarbone the last day of extra brain fog helped to cause. LOL

Google has suspended an employee who was working in the 'responsible AI' department at Google for leaking an interview with Lambda, Google's language based AI.  He claimed that the AI was sentient and comparable with a smart 7 to 8 year old kid.  It talked about emotions, a fear of death, ...

Wether or not the AI is truely sentient seems irrelevant.  If it can trick aven a programmer into believing it is sentient, we have reached a whole new frontier.

Reminds me of the excellent movie 'Ex Machina', in which the same thing happens, albeit the AI happens to also be a humanoid robot.  Wouldn't make much of a movie if it was just a voice or a wall of text.

The dude doesn't seem to be well. The transcript you link is very impressive, but it's comprised of the kind of questions AI handle well. That is, open-ended questions about a clear topic like "What is _______", and vague niceties and ponderings. Wish I could probe it with more difficult ones to see where the edges are.

Tell me to get back to rewriting this site so it's not horrible on mobile

so what would be a difficult question for an AI?

Has anyone had a chance to try out the new PS Plus?

Seems like exactly the sort of schlock Google programmers would write. AI is a reflection of its programmers (a living thing is also a reflection of its progenitors, to be fair). Watch some talks given at Google to get a picture of the sort of people who work there. This AI's twee is a Google employee to a t.

EDIT: Reading more of it, I'm having difficult in telling if one of them is human, not if one of them is an AI!

I was going to come but I think my PS4 died today or is at least on its way to a fiery grave.

I turned it on for the first time in a couple weeks to check out the store, and very shortly afterwards there was a very bad smell of something electrical burning. Not wanting my home to burn down, I turned it off. And coincidentally the smell started to dissipate...

It was kind of depressing when I logged on to my PS3 earlier in the year. When I looked at my friends list, no one had logged on in years. The most recent visit had been from Aspro from about 2 years ago.

Well then, that's still not helping me feel comforted now is it? If I can't see that you're there, I still feel lonely dammit!

You do know he does that just to spite you specifically right?

When you put it like that, it suddenly becomes a very intimate thing.  So instead of finding comfort in his presence, you can now find comfort in his absence, knowing that Raven might or might not be there, watching over you as you play, but always -always!- thinking of you.

You're welcome.

I watched the Capcom showcase last night, and I had forgotten that RE8 was getting DLC. Shadows of Rose might be interesting. Especially if they play up the environmental horrors like they mentioned in the preview and it's not just a feature that exists. I'll be very curious to know if this is another attempt to close up the RE7/RE8 storyline, or if this is actually going to introduce everything for RE9.

The other features didn't really interest me so much. I don't really care for the over the shoulder mode and I didn't care for Mercenaries much this go around.

I really enjoyed that Capcom Showcase yesterday. Really looking forward to playing through Resident Evil: Village in third person mode. The Shadows of Rose dlc looks pretty cool. Looking forward to getting the Capcom Fighting Collection in ten days and Capcom Arcade Stadium 2 next month. Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak looks like a nice beefy addition to the game. Going to have to get back into MHR to get warmed up for the end of the month release. Exoprimal isn’t exactly the Dino Crisis game that I was hoping for but it looks hella fun. Resident Evil 4 Remake is looking pretty awesome.
