I've been playing Asphalt 9 Legends. I downloaded it for free from the eshop.

I think I downloaded it when it first launched but never played it as I usually bail out if a game asks me to read all this shit about accounts and crap.

Anyway, never knew what I was missing. It's a proper driving game, looks great, controls are good. Very arcade like, huge jumps, some fantastic settings. Lovely attention to detail with the cars, you can even put down the top with convertibles and it has a full animation for it.

Don't know how Digital Foundry missed doing a video on this as it's one of the best looking switch games. If it weren't for some slight jagged edges here and there on a 4ktv, I would have believed it was a ps4/xb1 game. Also looks great portable.

Did I mention that it's completely free?

The only thing that bothers me is that there are all sorts of icons and things to click on the menus. It's trying to get you to buy various stuff either with real cash or virtual currency you earn in game. You can ignore it though and the menus always have the button keying up the next race. Nice touch.

Well you actively missed it, as I mentionned how great it was a couple of times when I was playing it nearly 2 years ago.  Very enjoyable game and it's possible to get hours and hours of fun from it before the grind kicks in.

Yes I remember you talking about it but I mistook it for Gear Club and underestimated the game based on it being free and originally mobile. I saw the digital foundry on it, they say it can be mistaken for a xb1 game on mobile. The PC version looks great. I've seen a switch test and it's between 45 to 55 fps. So weird how it was a mobile game but feels like I'm playing a game with better graphics than virtually everything else on the system. I think my 4ktv is adding a few jaggies here and there. Wonder what it looked like on a 1080p set. The game is just like Burnout too, though the short tracks can be too short in some instances. I just can't believe these guys made a mobile game with such detail like the descructible parts flying off. I haven't had to pay for anything and I've unlocked most modes within a day and a half of light play.

Yeah so much to play thanks to Game Pass. Finished Code Vein. Played some Hades which is excellent and played a bunch of Twelve Minutes which is quite the compelling point and click kind of game. Actually got to one of the endings in that thing after about 10 hours of playtime. LOL

Got Psychonauts 2 coming out in a couple of days and seems like that game really turned out great as well. Definitely looking forward to playing that as well.

Her Story is under $6 on steam.

I have given it a couple of hours, and certainly no final opinion, but it's genre breaking which makes it worthy to start with. FMV resurrected.

In other news I just came up with a full choreography routine for the song, "I'm only happy when it rains" by Garbage.

Hmm.

I've been meaning to go back to a couple of Wii games myself, but reality is FOMO for my shortly expiring GamePass Ultimate subscription is keeping me from doing so.

I'd also really like to replay Excitetruck and the original NMH.

Happy 30th Anniversary Super Nintendo! Actually it was yesterday. Such an awesome system with so many great classic games.

I didn't realize it, but the SNES launched on my 14th birthday. I bought one myself a year later when I turned 15 (had to put it on layaway at Play World if anyone remembers that store)

Kind of funny how back then it felt like the console had been out forever by the time I finally got one. These days the idea of getting a system before it's been around for 3 years seems utterly ridiculous to me.

Anyway, it was an excellent system. You had the best versions of Street fighter, all the great Square rpgs, the weird stuff that Enix was putting out, and of course the first party stuff that Nintendo put out. Arguably the best Zelda and Mario games of all time. Without the question it's always on my top three consoles of all time.

Unlocked a freaking Super car on Burnout Remastered. Think cause I upgraded my licence. Its like twice as fast as any other car I've driven so far and has a ridiculous boost that can fly past 8 players at once. Of course I'm crashing every 5 seconds.

Still playing Asphalt 9 - it's free, try it. I think this is the most fun I've had from a racer in years. I don't play many, but this is great. Love how some tracks are basically Mario kart tracks without items. So satisfying smashing through a skyscraper in San Francisco. Or out racing avalanches in the Himalayas. Game is heavily Burnout influenced, in fact it feels pretty much exactly like Burnout before it went open world. Love the levels where cop cars maul you non-stop. Also the gameplay loop is addictive. They are rewarding you all the time with cash, tokens or cards. The cards work like collectable card packs in real life and unlock new cars or parts. Sometimes you have to grab blueprints to unlock a specific car. You can upgrade every part of your vehicle and customise it too. Since I started on Sunday I've played it during virtually all my free time and I've never had to buy anything in real money.

Also nearing the end in Forgotten Anne, a very unique game world. Honestly the execution of the gameworld is so on point it feels like it could be a really great animated movie. The platforming is decent but becoming a touch overplayed after many hours. Mostly because the platforming is your main way of traversing the world, but its more of an adventure game and its those aspects that enrich the game far more.
