So what did everyone play this weekend?

I didn't get up to much on the gaming front.  Summer decided to no longer wait for Spring to show up and we went from cold rainy weather on Friday to +20°C and blue skies Saturday.

I did play the mandatory couple of hours of MH Iceborne, in which we continued to be pummelled by Fatalis.  The rest of my gaming consisted of a few rounds of Splatoon.  I'm pleased to say that I was in rather good shape and snagged a lot of victories.

Finished Cloudpunk and started the "sequel-length" DLC which I'm meant to be reviewing.

All in all an enjoyable experience. Might be worth checking out , GG; very much got an adventure game vibe to it in terms of the interestingness of the characters and richness of settings, but instead of puzzles you're delivering packages or ferrying people around taxi-style.

I read a good review of it but I saw a video on Sunday saying the performance on switch is bad. Switch up checks out patches so maybe they'll fix it. I completed Nine Witches and started Queens Quest 3, a first person adventure game.

Got my dash cam. If only it had come a day earlier there would be 1 Mercedes driver losing his licence this week. Beware of cams that say they will monitor 24/7. You have to buy a hardware kit for 20 Bucks but pay a mechanic to wire it all up. Even the rear cam needs 1 wire hooked up to your reverse light power source. I might try using my external battery pack and see if it lasts overnight. Its like 24'000 mah and can charge my phone 4x over.

So what's the point of these dashcams?

I mainly played Final Fantasy 15 this weekend.  I'm also working on a little project that will keep me gaming throughout the summer and should be an interesting experiment. I'll be posting a blog about that possibly tonight, but more likely later this week is it still not quite complete.

Apparently the graphics are downgraded too, so that's a disappointment if it runs poorly.

I just played Monster Hunter Rise this past weekend. Beat the main storyline boss for the ending and did a bunch more of the new harder quests that came along with the recent updates as well as a few Valstrax runs. Fun stuff.

I watch Switch UP! Channel on YouTube and they have videos where they go back to released games to see what affect the patches make. In some cases they release the games in a bad state and massively improve it, like Ghost runner.

Basically I drive a lot and since the covid restrictions people are driving like utter dick heads in my area. Someone clipped my wing mirror while I was sitting in the car and drove off before I could see the car or get a licence plate. But I've also had multiple instances of getting cut up or overtaken dangerously. Even had head on collisions almost happening with assholes driving towards me. So to save on an expensive insurance excess payout I can now prove who caused an accident. But I also intend on shopping these assholes to the police.

If it makes a difference for the insurance I could see it being usefull.  I doubt the police does anything with footage they get sent though.

On a related note: they should just retract the driver's license of anyone driving a mercedes.  No proof needed.  Police could set up shop next to Mercedes garages.  You buy a car, drive off the parkway, get pulled over and hand your license over to the cops.

I'm shocked Ghostrunner is on the Switch in any form at all!

They do, you can upload to police websites. I find its always German mid-range cars that are assholes, BMW then Mercedes and Audi. Then 4x4s and Ford Transit vans. Moped drivers and cyclists can endanger themselves too.

Apparently there are dash cam bounty websites too you can negotiate to sell footage of accidents you witnessed but were not involved in. Also some California tech companies buy your footage, about 10 Bucks a day for around 4 hours footage.

Sadly my Internet will not let me upload hours of HD footage each day. And I rarely see an actual accident. Mostly near misses. Also worked out you can leave it to record your kids in a 3 minute loop and if there's an argument you can view the footage, with audio 😂 Busted! I'm going to use it with an external battery and leave it on overnight to see if the motion sensor picks up the cat.

So started my latest Artifex Mundi game: Family Mysteries 2: Echoes of tommorow. Don't know why it has this ridiculous Family Mysteries banner, it's basically Terminator 2 played from the Scientists' perspective. The one who made Skynet. It has some new puzzles, most of these game recycle them but the futuristic theme has allowed them to present some new stuff. Not always successful but I welcome the change.
