First impressions of the Switch Lite:It's noticably smaller and a bit lighter, but thanks to the classic Nintendo build quality, it doesn't feel dinky or flimsy. The button and joystick layout seems to have the same spread as that of the classic Switch, there's just less plastic below the D-pad and right joystick. Because of this the Lite lies higher in your hands, which could result in cramps after longer play sessions. And there';s a full D-pad! It's exist&nce was so natural that it took me some time to notice it as being different from the Switch.

The body is in a more robust, slightly rougher plastic, resulting in a soft and warm touch all over, this is in contrast to the regular Switch tablet material which is very sleek and more easy to lose grip of. Combined with the colour scheme for both body and buttons, there is more than a hint of the original GBA in its design.

Browsing the eShop yesterday was very janky, very unresponsive, which comes as a surprise as the Lite sports the newer Tegra X1 chip. I'm hoping that this was a one time occurance, possibly finding its origin in the fact I was downloading a lot of software at the time.

DLSS is starting to get really impressive. I retract my previous statement, as it's looking likely that 4k/60FPS shouldn't be an issue for next-gen consoles as they'll probably doing something similar. The new console specs and the improvement in DLSS make the timing of building my PC just before next-gen not seem so bad, after all. Particularly considering the state of the Australian dollar...

Thanks for impressions. I saw you playing SMBWorld last night and tried to invite you , talk to you etc so we could play together but I don;t understand how that works on Switch.

I don't think you can really. There's no messaging or Voip function on Switch. Whenever I game online with friends I use Skype anyway.

It's a really bad system, especially when you have five friends online playing Animal Crossing , but no way to ask if they would like to visit.

You can but only once you have randomly met up and get registered on the game (AC). I see cat Eva and others playing AC quite a lot but no one ever has their gate open.

Holy shit just read how to game invite on switch https://www.wikihow.tech/Invite-Friends-on-the-Nintendo-Switch last method. Open the switch online icon on your console menu. Select play online and send a game invite.

Doesn't do you any good if you've never played with these people.

yeah that's what I mean, you have to have visited each other first before you can use the ingame messaging service.

if you go to your profile on the switch via the home menu there's an invite section. Which always baffled me as I did see the option to send game invites but apparently it's Through the switch online app on the Nintendo switch itself. Which I never boot up.

wtf you have to close the game you're playing first and then launch the app. And I'm not sure as I haven't done it yet but I think that's only for SNES and NES games online? Why does the profile page have an online game invitations section with no option to send them?
