I played Tecmo Bowl (NES) on Switch today during lunch. It's no Madden but I like the straight forward simplicity of its arcade-like gameplay.

I'm watching someone play NES Faxanadu for the first time on YT. I remember my high school friend had this game. It's funny having so much nostalgia for a game I never owned and only played briefly couple of times at a friend's house. I may look into getting a copy.

I hated Faxandu. It seemed like it had longer passwords than any 8-bit game. Between my own bad handwriting and never being able to differentiate between O, o, and 0, I lost so much progress. Eventually I got fed up with it and quit.

Passwords do suck. I forgot about that. May explain why it's $10-15 on ebay. Thank goodness for modern save states. Nintendo, Bring it to NSO, please.

Yeah I remember Faxanadu from back in the day and those passwords were certainly something alright. LOL

Would love to play it now to see what I think of it. Seem to recall enjoying it back then.

Super Moniaco GP (Genesis) passwords were a pain in the ass too.

Happy 35th Anniversary to Zelda II and Castlevania II. I’m old. crying

The weird ones! Anyone miss really strange sequels that really deviated from the first game lol.

I loved Zelda II, and even to this day get a little irrationally angry whenever I hear people bash it. To me it felt like this huge epic experience, probably because of that map and how spread out everything was. I also invested a lot in it. And I don't just mean time. It was one of the first games I bought with my own money, and goddamn. I remember it was expensive even though I bought it at Kmart.

Simon's Quest was cool, but I don't really remember playing it that much. I know I bought a copy, but long after it was released. Possibly not until the 16-bit era. But if nothing else, the game gave us Bloody Tears, and that's one of those songs that's endured from the 8-Bit era through today.

Zelda 2 is on my gaming bucket list.

I watched my friend play Simon's Quest. I doubt I'll ever beat that one.

I loved Zelda 2 snd finished it once but can't see myself returning yo it since I'm such a softy with gaming these days. I might could complete a dungeon, maybe two, but I don't have the time to be punidhed with death after death.

My buddy, Chris, got me through that give, giving me tips and strategies along the way. He was quite a gaming master.

Zelda 2 was the game that pretty much showed me Nintendo power was invaluable. I couldn't find that damn lost kid in the maze, and without that I couldn't get the reflect spell which you needed in order to beat the fourth temple. I had gotten so frustrated. I actually skipped it and went straight to the fifth temple which I did beat, but I pretty much couldn't go any further after that.

At some point I went over to a friend's house, mentioned that I was struggling with the game, and he dug up a couple of his issues from 6 months earlier and gave them to me. He might as well give me $100 bill because that's how valuable I can considered those two issues that profiled Zelda 2. Right after that, I saved up my money and got a subscription of my own.

Really sucks here. My cat whose only 10 had to be euthanized today.

She only showed symptoms this morning breathing heavily. Her lungs were filling with fluid. When they scanned her they found multiple masses assumed to be tumours and had to put her down.

I feel broken.

The only solace I have is that she stayed with me for 4 hours in bed last night, purring and being stroked. She seemed totally normal.

You know what other game celebrated it’s 35th Anniversary this past August? The Adventures of Bayou Billy. Now there’s a game that needs a remake.
