Finished off FF3 Pixel Remaster today. Glad S-E properly revisited the title. Probably won't play it ever again, but after all of these years of debating whether or not to properly play it I'm happy to have finally done it.

Yeah, that’s kind of how I feel about FF2 and FF3. Two games that I’ll never play again but glad that I did just for the first hand experience instead of just relying on other people’s perspective on them.

I can at least say that it was my own experience that's stopped me from playing Final Fantasy 3 for so long. I first picked up a fan translated version in 1999. Then I played the DS remake shortly after it launched. Both times, I don't think I made it more than about 2 or 3 hours in before quitting.

Anyway, glad I finally stuck with it. Now I can scratch it off the books and never play it again.

I finished Borderlands 4 a couple of days ago and really enjoyed it. I put in over seventy hours and the only reason I finished it this soon is because I was in an online party and we just kept chugging along until the end. I really enjoyed it, maybe my second favorite under BL2. There's a lot about the old games that I don't remember so its hard to compare. I do like the open world of this game. It is nice to see a lot of greenery and not so much desert.

I completed Super Mario Galaxy 2 and loved it. Its not as good as the first one. I guess I just love exploring on Rosalinas ship more and how grand everything feels. The biggest gripe that I have are the controls. Sometimes when things get hectic, I lose control of Mario and he just starts to run around in a circle on his own. I read that this has been an issue since the game was first released 15 years ago. So, why wasn't this fixed? Also, the pointer controls are kinda crap, especially when trying to grab something as Yoshi or pull yourself to a blue star. I couldn't find an option to change controls but it would have been nice to just click a button to highlight something to grab onto. I was using the Pro Controller 2 so maybe I can map that button to one in the back and see if that is easier. Fantastic game, still one for the ages. The controls just need to be tweaked.

After 70 attempts, I finally escaped the underworld and beat Hades...kind of. To get the full story you have to escape repeatedly. And naturally there's some increased difficulty. My next 2 attempts were less successful.

At any rate, it's an excellent game and as tough as it is, I'm still having fun so I'm going to stick with it for a while and see if I can escape again while completing some of the side stories.

Beat Ninja Gaiden 4 last night. Love the gameplay. It's crazy fast and kinetic. I played all the way through on Normal difficulty and it was pretty challenging. A couple of really intense boss fights. Some of those Purgatory gate challenges were wild as well. I tried them on the easiest of choices. I can only imagine how insane they would be on the most difficult option choice. Yikes!

The game looks good in general. Nothing that'll blow you away graphically but decent enough.

The characters and story are very "Meh" even by Ninja Gaiden standards. While the other games definitely won't win any awards in those departments either, I found the first two games to be more interesting and generally entertaining in those aspects.

Music is good but it seems really muted for some reason. Found the music in the first two games more memorable. Some cool tracks here especially in a couple of boss fights in their second phase when it ramps up and the vocals kick in.

Very solid 8 out of 10 game though. Would place it just behind Ninja Gaiden Black and Ninja Gaiden 2.

I finished up Luigi's Mansion last night. Still a very enjoyable game and it still looks pretty darn good. The generational leap from N64 to GC is astounding.

Finished the main story to Super Mario Odyssey. Moving from Galaxy 2 to Odyssey really highlights how improved the visuals are in this game. As well as the controls. I am hopig for a new 3-D Mario installment next year.

Finished Cuphead. Didn't think that was going to be possible, but I'm quite happy to be able to put it in my victory column. That said, I was disappointed with the ending. For as amazing as the game looked, they phoned it in with some storybook pages.

Congrats.

Did you finish it during a stream?

I did, but not during my good stream.

I normally stream in the mornings, and today I spent 2 hours trying to get through the dice King battle. And it was basically 2 hours of me failing over and over and over again. For most of that time I had over a hundred people watching me.

Eventually I had to go to an appointment and ended the stream. Couple hours later. I came back though and in about 10 minutes I had the dice King beat. So at that point I decided to start streaming again and show off the devil battle. That took me about 20 minutes before I finally had him beat. Ridiculous how much easier it was. But for that stream I think I had about 17 people. So my moment of Glory was not shared by a whole lot of people.

Well that’s 17 more people that’ll ever likely see me beat the game. LOL

I just finished Batman Arkham Knight. I really enjoy all of the Arkham games but I believe this one is my least favorite. Theres quite a bit of car combat in the game and it's honestly quite tedious at times. Theres rest of the core game is pretty greet and I love the DLC which I had never played before. Now we need Arkham Origins to be available to play.

I completed Metroid Prime 4 with 100 % of the items. Great game to me and looks like a set up for a new trilogy, if it sells well. I seem to have a different opinion about this game than the majority of people. I really enjoyed it. Probably a solid 9/10 for me.

The Plucky Squire- 04/12 - Switch2 - 7.5/10

The plucky squire has a lot going for it.  A unique concept, a nice graphical style, an upbeat lightheartedness that carries it on through.  You're a character in a child's storybook that gains the power to pop out of the book and travel across the desk it's laid down on, where more adventure awaits.  It's very neat and doesn't get old, even if the 3D elements lack some of the 2D animations' charm.  There's a narrator during cutscenes, when you're in the book you see part of the desk still, as well as the crease in the middle where the pages meet and the texture of the actual paper.  It's all very well done.  Too bad the game is let down by the gameplay, which is varied but pretty shallow.  Enjoyable, something I'd recommend, but the gameplay can't keep up with the game's charm.
