Yeah I'll try and arrange something special for that one!

Since a sequel is confirmed, is it safe to assume he didn't die of the flame bug bites?
The plot isn't similar to Hero but the whole emporer thing is at the end is. Since China took back Hong Kong their filmakers have had to be very careful with what they put into their movies or not.
Yeah, at the end he's like hiding out like a vampire in spooky town right? I like this movie a lot as pure entertainment.

Review: The Sherlockian THE BULLET VANISHES Eschews Ego for Mystery
"overall, The Bullet Vanishes is a great crowd-pleasing good old fashioned mystery, set in a pretty unique location and contains some very unexpected developments, it comes highly recommended as an intelligent genre flick."
Arirang is probably not for everyone, but even if you aren't enamoured by Kim's works I can still recommend it for the undeniable attention it commands. Simply gaining access to a master's way of thinking should be enough reason to see this compelling account of a man grappling with his identity.

If you're looking for a smile and a laugh, check out The Great Magician.
If you want a really good crime/revenge sort of film with some martial arts check out Wuxia.

Thanks bro, I will check out both
Along with some old Jackie Chan films. Think I will watch The Snake and Crane tonight.
That's some masterful hair.
I'm going to check this whole thread because I need to engage my mind right now so I don't think about stuff but also because I forget the reviews and other films I need to check out. I'm making a list.
Damn, reading the first page again. Reminds me no one else has checked out Red Cliff 1 and 2, those films are epiiiiiiiiiiiiiic. Part 2 is where all the good stuff happens, part 1 is like the build up.
They did a mashed together single version that cuts like an hour and a half out of the movie, avoid that but check out the full thing, you can get it on dvd, it's called the special edition or clearly marked as parts 1 and 2. I would read the back of the box, both films should be about 4 and a half hours.
Make sure you post the list on here please. I'm checking the thread from the beginning as well, but sometimes there's too much information to process so it'll be good to get a kind of list for a quick check
From earlier in the thread:
Some new movie review for The Message from Twitchfilm.
"The Message is visually stunning, smart, atmopsheric and even a little tense near the end. It could've done with a better, more subtle soundtrack but as it is the film works fine on all levels, delivering a rich and pleasant time amongst spies tucked away in dark, cold castles. Good stuff and recommended for a wide audience."
I saw this movie, bought it cheap from yesasia.com
Really, good. I was suprised by how good it was.

Okay I have read the thread from top to tail and thought about the ones I have seen from this thread that are well worth reccomending as well as a couple of other older pics that are great too
Here's what I've come up with:
FILMS I HAVE SEEN WHICH ARE WORTH WATCHING
Rated in A's or B's etc and listed in order of most worth watching to least
Note: It's not a perfect order, some of the older films are actually fantastic but I ranked them slightly lower as to me they are something I saw a long time ago.
- Red Cliff 1 and 2 (A+) (if there is one film just called "Red Cliff" it is the cut bastardised version), John Woo at this best
- Confessions (A+) Powerful and dark film akin to the best of Korean revenge pics
- Detective Dee (A) Entertaining supernatural detective kung fu from start to finish
- I Saw the Devil (A) One of the best serial killer pics ever made along with Memories of Murder
- The Gallants (A) A Homage to the best 70s kung fu films, a bunch of old geezers and losers fight, for honor
- Memories of Murder (A+) One of the best serial killer pics ever made along with I Saw the Devil
- The Host (A) Best modern monster movie? Hilarious black comedy, exciting and fun
- Wuxia (A) Suprising mix of detective film, revenge thriller and martial arts, Donniiiiieeeeee Yen
- The Great Magician (A) Crowd pleasing, classy comedy, very entertaining
- Millenium Actress (A+) Batman Director Chris Nolan took a lot of inspiration from this and Paprika for Inception, but this is better
- True Legend (A) Directed by legend Yuen Woo Ping this is just a well choreographed kung fu slugfest
- The Message (A) Tense, classy, well directed and keeps you on your toes. Chinese spies trapped in a castle under constant threat of death, perhaps the best underhyped asian film out there
- Reign of Assasins (A) Like Crouching Tiger Hidden dragon with less whining and boredom. It won't suprise you but it is good and solid
- Sha Po Lang aka Killzone in the USA (A) There aren't many modern day martial arts films from HK, this is one of them. Donnie Yen vs Sammo Hung? Yes please
- Shaolin (A) This is another one of those pure entertainment films, kung fu monks fighting vicious gun wielding warlords?
- Woochi The Demon Slayer (A -) Initially confusing due to subtitles this is a classic magician warped to the future entertainment pic. Comedy, action, fun.
- War of The Arrows (A) A straightforward action pic set in ancient Korea, the arrows fly like bullets, it's packed with tension
- 13 Assasins (B+) Perhaps a little overated by reviewers it's still good and worth watching for a 40 minute bloodbath at the end
- Flying Tigers of Dragon Gate (B) Nowhere near as good as Hark's Detective Dee, but still fun overall
- Let the Bullets Fly (B) Very talky to the point of exasperation but well worked and intelligent, reminds me of a Tarantino pic
- Thirst (B) Not one of the Oldboy Directors' best, this vampire film is still engaging, dark and inventive. The ending leaves you shrugging though
- The Lost Bladesman (B), from Infernal Affairs directors this is a pretty good wuxia film and a good companion film to Red Cliff as it is about one of the historial figures from Red Cliff
- The Man From Nowhere (B) would be better but A Bittersweet Life did it better and before this, a little girl gets kidnapped and a guy goes after revenge. Think Taken, only not shit. See A Bittersweet Life first folks that is an (A) rated revenge thriller.
Not to mention IP Man (A), Fearless (A+), The Good The Bad and the Weird (B+) etc which are also great movies, Fearless in particular - the directors cut. Also City of Violence (B) Korean martial arts revenge pic that is mostly okay but then has one awesome 40 minute action scene at the end which bests anything you've seen in Kill Bill. And The Legend is Born IP Man (B) very solid, less flashy film about the young IP Man, it has a fairly comical bad guy portrayal of the Japanese but otherwise, good stuff.
Note, some films are better than others but this is also listed based on what I actually enjoyed watching more.
I'll second Memories of Murder, though I must admit I don't really hold it quite such high esteem as others do. Still a great film, though, don't get me wrong.

When is a serial killer film not a serial killer film? This is almost, almost a black comedy about bumbling cops as much as it's a serious and engaging film about Koreas first serial killer.

Indeed it is, but I'm not sure if that question is rhetorical or not.
Thanks so much for the work on the lists. Highly appreciated and will be very very useful
Hope it's useful, I think this list may spawn a new thread which we can all participate in.
