Well that certainly sucks. Did not expect Microsoft to be the first to follow Nintendo in pricing so quickly. I subscribe to Game Pass though so that’ll continue to work for me. They’ll probably be raising its price as well unfortunately.
There's some news articles going around that suggest Sony will be raising their prices for hardware and software sometime during the middle of this month. I guess I chose the right time to finally upgrade.

Didn't Sony already raise their console prices?
This is so f-ing weird. I know why it's happening but we're used to older consoles coming down in price.

As far as I know, Mario Kart World is the only $80 game. I'm sure they next Zelda will be too. All the other games range from $50 to $70 that I've seen.
Gamepass has no price increase so far, but might go up.

Microsoft is doing the “variable pricing” thing as well. Not all their first party games are going to be $80.
Game Pass is definitely going to go up in the near future.

Is this a push to get more people on gamepass.
Are switch 2 game key cards a push to make us go digital?
I read there was a Nintendo website interview that said that 3rd parties requested the game key cards. Perhaps because their file sizes were way over the 64gb limit.

Yes and yes. At least to some degree. A hopeful benefit at least.
I think I saw somewhere that Nintendo are only providing 64GB cards to third parties and they are quite expensive. Games that don’t need that large of a card are going the Game-Key route to save costs. It doesn’t really matter for Nintendo games since the cards are their proprietary format.

This is BS.
I wouldn't mind if sd express cards were cheap. They aren't and the capacity atm is 1tb max at the moment.
It's pretty cool you now have options with your digital purchases.
Series S $379.99
Series X $599.99
Games now $80 for Xbox first party.
Some games vary in price.

Oh shit, they're raising all Xbox accessory prices too.

Not all. The standard controllers are remaining at their current price.
There should be an industry wide agreement that the price of a game should be equal to its score on metacritic.

Nooooo
I truly hope this is tongue in cheek. If you think the game media is corrupt now then imagine what it would be like if this were the case. Yikes!
