I started considering getting a new handheld gaming console. Not considering Switch 2 at this point. Mostly thinking in terms of a Steamdeck or an Android handheld. Mostly for playing indie/PC lite games. Have any of you guys been into this at all?

A couple years ago I got into the lower and mid range systems. I had a Retroid Pocket 4, and it was a good system for playing any system up through the PS2 and GameCube. It also worked really well with Android games. Stardew valley played like a gem on it. I also picked up a Miyoo Mini, which was basically a Game Boy SP. The sound chip on that thing wasn't particularly good, but the form factor was great.

But I always balked at jumping to the Steamdeck, Odin, or any of the higher end Android handhelds. I still primarily like to play on a console or anything with a large screen, and those systems usually start and over $400. At that point, the portability wasn't quite worth the price.

Valve is no longer selling the $400 Steamdeck, so unless you go pre-owened, it's $550 minium.

I have never been to Asia. I would like to. Believe it or not what happened to you on your India trip many years ago has affected many of my decisions for travelling destinations.

My winter holiday was in Tenerife. Other than flying in to the south airport, I spent the entire time in the north of the island. It is truly incredible, particularly if you like geology and hiking like me. The only disappointment was that I was not able to summit El Teide (my primary reason for wanting to go there) because they weren't allowing people up due to the weather (too windy for the cable car). You will need to get a rental car as the public buses are very infrequent and you will need to drive quite a bit to see most of the great places. If it wasn't such hard work (and so expensive) to get to and fro I would consider going back.

Don't avoid Asia. India, yeah maybe. But a lot of Asia is very safe and some of it is more modern than Europe, parts of China especially.

Singapore, Penang, Kuala Lumpa are very safe. Thailand too.

Everyone gets Delhi belly in India though. Most people don't have lasting effects like I did. It has largely resolved itself but flares up occasionally now.

Anyone else interested in the Terminator 2D game? It looks like a cool arcade experience. Too bad it's $30.

Seen a few reviews. Too short and shallow. But definitely sales pickup.

After 540+ hours I am finally done with Xenoblade X. I have all the achievements. Did all the sidequests. Beat all the superbosses. Heck I even have all the fashion gear and developed all the armour, weapons and mechs. I have a godlike build and 3 godlike mechs. Maybe in the future I will try new builds, but for now I am done!

Now I am playing Hades. Very fun gane!

My Samsung 4k kinda crapped out on me. It has a shadow on one side from a burned out led strip. I bought a Sony Bravia OLED, quite the upgrade for me.
