I like the True Fear demo. It reminds me of Resident evil without combat. You work your way around spooky environments, picking up clues, diaries, written notes and photographs. These slowly uncover the story and meanwhile you are using your brains and the items you find to unlock various bits of the house. It's almost like a metroid game in how the house opens up bit by bit.

Syberia 2 is a mixed bag so far. On the one hand the graphics are better, the atmosphere is richer. The world is more alive, there are more people and animals. On the other hand its picked up a few foibles, such as connections that make no sense (fish flavoured candy?) It also does this thing where an area you already checked, suddenly has the one item you're looking for. So you have to recheck everything again. The environment is sometimes stupidly large and there is lots and lots of running. Annoying when you have a huge gap between a and b. It also now has items that blend into the background, and hotspots in weird nooks and crannies you would never think to go into. Worst of all is its reliance on mechanical puzzles with often no hint or logic into how the said machine works. This leaves you with just clicking things randomly and hoping for the best. This is the solution to one puzzle for instance - how would one work this out?
"HOW TO LEARN THE RADIO FREQUENCY TO WAKEN BORIS

Go to the cockpit and turn on the round switch on the top left of the panel (under the “B” in Boris.

There will be two lights lit to the right of this switch (next to an “A” and a “B” switch).  Turn off the “B” switch.

The vertical panel on the right side of this big panel has, at the top, a four section digital area.  Below that is a speaker and below that are a series of switches.  You’ll be concerned with only the yellow, red, and green switches after you

turn on the toggle switch below the red switch.

Put the yellow and red switches in the up position and the green down.

In the digital area above are the numbers “03”.

And without pointer support, you have scroll between multiple buttons with the analogue stick. You can't even push the stick up to use the button above. You have to scroll left or right and wait for the cursor to scroll to the button you need.

Beat the final monster in the multiplayer mode for Monster Hunter Rise today. Pretty cool fight. Time to finish the single player quest mode now. I’m currently at rank 4 in that mode and there’s a rank 7 cap right now so I have a fair amount of questing to do there still. Also need to do some more farming for mats to get more gear.

I swear, I have to use a guide for Syberia 2 every few minutes. Barely touched a guide in the first game. The story, well, the atmosphere and game world are so compelling to me but the gameplay is a touch irritating in this sequel. Bah, it only cost £1.68. Gone Home is on sale, worth it? Edna and Harvey games on sale too, anyone tried these?

No, I haven’t tried any of those games. Sorry.

how the hell do you power through these games so damn fast? A monster hunter game takes me forever to get to even the mid point ending.
