Destiny sounds pretty terrible to someone like me. Continuous gameplay experiences < Beating games. At least they are trying something new. If I were Activision I'd be nervous though. They clearly need a WoW replacement and they are spreading their chips between Bungie and Blizzard as to which one will come up with a winner.
You are likely playing it with the benefit of some patches that were not available at launch.

Ended up getting the ring in the asylum. Good thing since there were two black knights over there and I always want to pick up the titanite they drop. Plus I got to battle the asshoIe demon (seriously, being a melee knight made me stare at his horrendous asscrack and asscheeks for almost all of the fight) and got snuggly to give me stuff. Back in Blighttown I assed around, died a lot, lost some souls, and in the end kicked some spider ass with my trusty friend Mildred. Blighttown is done for good except for that bit inside the tree that I'm not planning to visit right now so it's Sen Fortress time for me.
I spent most of my loot leveling up so I'm at SL 43 or so, with 30 STR, 21 VIT and 18-ish END right now, with 14 DEX since I wanted to use a 5+ uchi I just had upgraded. Too bad the uchi sucked ass against the first enemy I tried it with, the lizard people from the fortress. That made me focus on my +6 zweihander that knocks them down with L2, now I feel more comfortable. I wanted to use the uchi because of the bleed bonus, but the damage it does seemed negligible to me. maybe it's because it needs DEX instead of STR?
At any rate, I kept rocking the shadow set, divine halberd +1/zwei +6, emblem shield, wolf and steel protection rings and that's about it. I love to be more mobile now and I found out I don't need to be a slug to shrug off most of the damage from heavy blows.
Mad respect to Steel and anyone else for that matter who was able to stick with Dark Souls for more than 10 hours. That game whupped my ass like nothing else I've come across in decades. I kind of follow Bear's philosophy in this case where any game that makes me that miserable is one I probably shouldn't play, but I will admit to feeling slightly ashamed in giving up.
Glad to see you're enjoying it. I tried playing a few of those PS1 classic RPGs on the PSP and I just couldn't get into them. They take so freaking long to get started. Parasite Eve was the one exception that I still thoroughly enjoyed.
You guys may have some entertainment. Archie or Foolz or someone else recently suggested I do a bathtub rant about Ubisoft's decision to make Rayman Legends multiplatform. Well tonight I did it. At the same time I also did a review for the new Chicken and Waffle flavored potato chips from Lays. And before than I drank a hell of a lot of tequila. So the end result kind of came off as a drunk guy's rant against France. I'm debating whether or not to make this public, but if nothing else I'll post it tomorrow or whenever it's finished uploading.
Virtue's Last Reward has a really cool flow chart feature. A player can now "Jump back" to any part of the game they have already been at any time, and make different choices! Hells yeah! No more starting from the very beginning each time. Considering this game has 24 endings, that is a HUGE improvement over the 999's fast-forwarding format.
LOTS of other improvements here too. Puzzle rooms now have a HARD/EASY setting that you can switch between. Default is on HARD, and you will get no hints from other characters in the game; switch to EASY anytime, and they'll give you hints, just like they did in 999. Selectable Japanese and English voice acting for all characters. Rooms are much easier to navigate since you can now freely control the camera with the stylus. There are optional files to find in each puzzle room too, which adds even more info to the story. I'm not very far in the game yet, but I'm loving it!
