They should tie in Animal Crossing Events:

"The full name of the program translates to "How Many Days Left? It Counts. Nintendo DSi Calendar." The program will display a countdown to upcoming events Screenshots show the program displaying a congratulations message when a birthday arrives.

The calendar is meant to be turned on daily. Each day, you'll get a greeting, complete with information about season-specific events."
