I do it because I don't want to miss out on any good games.

Is this a really late and lazy attempt to get a community focus on the podcast. Nyaa

Oh there are plenty more better threads than this (umm I think) -- nah I am listening to the podcast from bitmob.com and it came up.  One of the dudes on there that was a games reviewer apparently hates gaming news, and how he likes games better now he is not on the forums etc...

He's a dork though, he says he spends all his time on iPhone forums now (groan).

Because it's hard to avoid in a place like this. Nyaa

Most people don't like San Andreas because they are closet racists.  They'll say things like, "I just didn't like CJ" or "I didn't like the gang setting".

I have a news compulsion, not just games but news in general. I eat it up. I used to hate it when my father watched the boooooring news. But now I could watch 24 news channels most of the day.

Games excite me so I try to keep up, otherwise you would miss tons of interesting stuff.

Because I work on a gaming television show and produce a podcast for said show, so it's in my best interests to keep up with all the latest trends.

That, and I love knowing what's going on.

^Homer, you must watch Good Game on ABC3.  I think the hosts do a good job (if they write their own stuff).  The addition of the robot for the kiddies is embarrassing for all concerned (including adult viewers).

But more importantly, what do you make of their constant hand wringing?  Both hosts are constantly grasping their own hands.  I'm guessing the stage manager has a thing about people who talk with their hands.

I like knowing what is announced and what is happening with the games I'm interested in.

Many reasons I guess. I find it interesting, I like to stay informed and up-to-date, to plan future purchases, gaming is my hobby so news and info naturally is an aspect of the hobby.

Same as everyone else. I don't want to miss out on new games coming out.

And I do half of my work from home so there's nothing to do but check the internet.

I used to enjoy reading video game news back when it was more about the video games themselves, and not so much about the business/financial side, which has taken a lot of the fun out of this hobby for me. I'm sick of all these suits bitching in the news about how they don't make enough billions charging 60+ dollars for a 5-8 hour game; whining about used game sales; and then demanding us to play even more money for on-the-disk DLC and, now, online play in order to get the so-called "full" experience. F*** that.

That is an excellent point.  If you pick up an EGM from even 2005 it's 100% about games, not even rally about developers, let alone publishers.

And now gamiong news is equal part business, equal part games.

Originally it was incidental, then it was for interest, then it was for discussion, then knowledge.  Now it's a matter of inclusiveness and being apart of everything else here.
