Oh, I’ve been looking all over for this thread and it was right under my nose the whole time.

Terrible episode, terrible season. I was hoping it was leading to something that made sense but these writers clearly don’t care anymore. Characters completely butchered, Jaimes story makes zero sense. Tyrion with Varys makes no sense. The show establishes that scorpions are dangerous last episode and completely ignores that this episode. Jon has been a mindless zombie for a while now.cersei gets a “good” death, we waited 8 years for that?! And then you switch final bosses at the last moment. Dany was done so poorly that it doesn’t work as it should.

The direction was superb and as usual it’s a fun watch. Clegane bowl was completely pointless and was like a lightsaber duel in mustafar. They captured the terror of it all but they have a lot of work to do next episode to make it make sense.

I wonder why the creators were so determined to just finish this? Why didn’t they try to do this with more episodes?

Guess they want to move on and ruin Star Wars now.

Keep in mind, it's not really that the showrunners want to end the series so much as they have to. A lot of the actors are ready to move on to new roles. Many of them are getting upwards of a million dollars an episode, and the longer the show goes the higher the salaries get in order to keep the actors from leaving. Kit harington, Emilia Clarke, and whatever Sansa Stark's real name is all have very big careers waiting for them outside of Game of Thrones and they're ready to go get them.

As far as the spin-off series go, I think the best thing they can do is set them for five or six seasons but no more. It just gets too hard to keep a cast around for more than that.

And personally, I actually liked most of what's going on this season (though the writing still isn't as good as it used to be). There aren't supposed to be a lot of happy endings in this story. And I thought Jamie's story ended up exactly where it was supposed to be. Most people who make really bad choices tend to go back to them even if they stop for a while.

I like most of the season, just thought it was a little rushed. Dany’s Heel turn was a little too quick seeing as it looked like she and Jon were perfect for each other last season.

It does feel rushed. It has had a few turns/twists which needed more time to develop. Daenerys has been a clusterfuck. Who in Kings Landing was actually asking to be liberated from Cersei? She's invaded with a foreign army who are essentially themselves her slaves and then massacred everyone. Also that dragon is too overpowered it's ridiculous.

The Jaime fight was pointless for both participants. As was the bro vs bro fight.

You can make an argument that the Jamie battle wasn't really needed, though they had been subtly building it for the past two seasons. Every single time he had the opportunity, Uron would take a shot at him either in person or even when he wasn't present.

But how on Earth was the Hound vs. The Mountain pointless? That's been building since season 1.

Because there were zero stakes to it. It was literally a fight just to have a fight at the end of the world for those two. They were all going to die, the outcome had no impact ON ANYTHING. It was just a random fight. Why cause terrible writing, they had bulletpoints on what needed to be done but fuck all to how they get there.

It's like they were arranging a tournament on a piece of paper. Now who needs to fight who? With everything the Hound has been through would he really you risk or end his life just for revenge on his brother?

They had three perfect shots to kill the first dragon and then they couldn't land a single shot with the second dragon. Makes no sense

I read an article today saying that Varys was using the little girl to poison Daenarys which could be the reason she lost her mind
