Yay! I'm not an asshole for the first time in my life!
Oh ok, I am still an asshole, but an asshole with De Blob!
Okay, okay. I'll buy it. But I'm not walking an hour for it like I did for Spore . I'll get it next time I go home from university for a weekend. Which may be next weekend or may not be until Christmas.
The fact that characters have Weebl & Bob voices sold me.
But honestly, what do you do in this game besides just splatting into walls, and doesn't that get old after a few hours?
New list of games I have to buy when I go home:
- Fallout 3 (PC)
- C&C 3 (PC)
- De Blob
Is anyone else going to call me an asshole for not having their game on the list?

Sure.
Asshole.

No it doesn't get old. Playing De Blob isn't like playing a game, it's almost like getting into a groove and jamming along with the music. You see each colour you pick up or mix, gives you a different musical instrument. So when you are paiting the city you can literally change up the music how you want as it plays a note or flurry of notes depending on how you play. The game has challenges, you bomb around the city, there are checkpoints but characters set you challenges like time trials or painting things certain colours or defeating some enemies. It does repeat itself but never to the games detriment.

Why not RV? It's not a budget game, though if you hunt around you can probably get it for a better price. It has some of the best music and visuals on the system and is a blast to play. Even Edgecrusher loves it. Where the hell is he anyhow? Someone tell him to get his ass back here and explain himself.

I've had the same concerns that Yarcofin stated; it looks like it will get old rather quickly.
Besides there are a lot of other games that I'd rather have right now like Banjo 3, Animal Crossing, Tomb Raider Underworld, and Fable II; Yes, those are all sequels. *lowers head in shame* But in my defense, I never played a Banjo game before, so it isn't a sequel to me.

Do not worry Hamster. People that played the original Banjo's have the same opinion. The new one has almost nothing to do with the old ones gameplay wise.
I want to support it, it is an Australian developed game after all. Unfortuantely, that would result in me wanting to buy a Wii. Which I don't.
Is it better than the Dutch game it was inspired by?

That being said, I also had the same concern about Guitar Hero III before I bought it, as I'd never played a GH game before
Despite my supposed love of everything this game just doesn't interest me. I checked out the vids and reviews but it's just not my kind of game really. I'd like to say that I'll maybe give it a rental but then I'd be a liar. There are other games I'm just way more interested in playing. Sorry.

How fickle!
I dont know if its a AAA most every site has it in the 8 range which is great. Also its a platformer and I am swamped in platforming goodness so no need for it now. Plus with the quality of other huge games like Fallout, Resistance 2, PoP, Far Cry 2, etc, weird quirky blob game is not a priorty nor do I feel like paying anywhere near $50 for it.
Bad timing, had it come out in July or something it would be a different story.

Dutch game was like a tech demo for a city planners. This is a fully fleshed out game with 12 massive maps and individual stages and challenges on top. They don't have much in common besides the move glob about to paint mechanic.

You love everything that has either guns or swords in it. Prove me wrong asshole!

I don't understand where this perception came from that it should be a budget game. There is a ton of content and top class production values. I would pay the same for this as I did for any other brand new retail game.
Just kidding folks.
What's going on though? This is a AAA game on a system people are crying out for games on. In Europe you can even grab it for budget prices from launch day at sites like play.com
Yet only Steelo, Phantom, Edgecrusher and me own this game. Granted for this place that's quite a lot but there are more people with Wiis here I know that for a fact!
It has the best soundtrack in ages for a game, you can buy the OST at Circuit City. Here are some samples: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=C-pylTtTqeQ
Metacritic reviews below:
"With such complete attention to the teensiest of details, it’s obvious that de Blob was more than just another project for all those involved; it captured their imaginations and became a labour of love. "
"A wonderfully simple, infectiously enthusiastic joyride that maintains the spirit of the original while adding depth. If enough gamers notice it during the holiday deluge of sequels, de Blob could become a cult hit. "
"A treat of a game that's as creative and funky as it is new and interesting - we can't recommend it enough."
"It is a rare game that can appeal equally well to both the casual and hardcore crowds, yet de Blob does just that. It is a brilliant fusion of simple mechanics and in-depth play that deserves checking out. "
"de Blob is defined by its pure unadulterated fun. While it doesn't have the best platforming, the most complicated puzzles, or the most involved action mechanics, as a whole it's something to behold. "
"The visuals are wonderful, the music is happy and the multiplayer modes are as fun as the single-player campaign. No matter how old you are, this game will paint a smile on your face. "
"As a PC title, de Blob was a charming game, but as a Wii title the game stands out as among the best on the system. "
"In a sea of brown, grey and black sameyness, this is a rainbow life-raft of joy. Ignore all the joyless people who moan, and get splatting. "
"This title may not have the most varied or difficult gameplay, but it is incredibly fun to play, and the different modes and goals give it some decent replay value. de Blob is an awesome title, and while it may not be the most action-packed or drama-filled title on the market, it provides countless hours of colorful fun."
"One part Katamari Damacy, two parts of the humor in Rayman Raving Rabbids, de Blob takes everything both of those titles did right and adds it to a unique and entertaining story and gameplay mechanic. "
"de Blob is an undeniably infectious game. On all fronts, the game is polished and high quality, making it one of the best third-party titles available for the Wii. "
"But if you’re a fan of Jet Grind Radio, Katamari Damacy, or any stylish, pseudo-sandbox style game, then get de Blob today. You won't be disappointed."
"I think de Blob is one of the best third-party efforts to come over to Wii in a long time. This is a fun, stylized 3D platformer that oozes atmosphere and shines with amazingly slick presentation and polish."
"What's here is just as wild and wacky as the original and it's a benchmark game for the Wii. If you own a Wii, this is one game you don't want to overlook. "
"Most importantly, the game is just plain fun. Oozing with style and Day-Glo colored antics, de Blob takes platforming and transforms it with a beautiful new coat of paint. "
"de Blob shows the world that the power of ideas is more powerful than the power of a big budget. Blue Tongue isn't a very prominent videogames company, but they have brought us an incredible sensation of gameplay based on the simple concept of covering a monochrome world with an original explosion of colour. "
"Probably the best and worst thing about de Blob is that it's got 'Destined For Cult Status' written all over it. It's certainly not the first game to mix platform and puzzle elements, but the fact it manages to do so in such a clever, endearing, stylish and instantly playable way makes this a game we'd heartily recommend to anyone who thirsts for a 'proper' Wii game, whatever that is."
"it remains fun throughout thanks to extremely polished controls, visuals, and music, as well as a surprisingly cool (and funny) story."
"It's a beautifully immersive game that really takes advantage of the Wii's hardware to create a vivid and memorable experience. "
