All Telltale games are alike now and I'm getting sick of it. These "adventure" ganes have basically removed all interactivity and puzzle solving and are basically a choose your own adventure story. GoT is the worst I have seen for gameplay, when it gives you a section to actually walk around in it feels like a waste of time, just put there to say you have some control. You do nothing in this game, just watch, make chooses and do some crappy QTEs. The strength of these games is the story and characters of which telltale does get it right here. You get to be a part of a made up family in the north as they get into a conflict with a rival family all while Ramsay plays both sides. Like the show characters are spread across the world with multiple storylines, some good, some boring. Maybe it's intentional but I found the first episode to be fantastic, especially with the incredible GoT like ending. After that it felt like filler episodes until the last two when something actually happened. I would say the ending is worth the journey, if you love GoT. Still I can't get over just how little there is for the player to do. The score I give is based on how much I enjoyed the story. It does have the voices of many of the shows stars so that is neat. But it doesn't reach the highs of the walking dead game. Play the other Game of Thrones game, that is way better. |
