Yay, the blog you have all been waiting for, museum pictures from Shanghai.

But first, this giant Jade ship found in a Pearl shop completely eclipsed the one I saw in the Jade factory and must have taken years to make.

Inside Shanghai's museum is a central coutyard type thing, looking up you see the floors.

These are clothes worn by the northern tribes. You know there are Chinese and Russians who look more like Inuits? Those guys used to and still do, wear clothes like this. I was suprised as the clean lines and patterns and even the cut of some of these clothes is very modern.

I loved this, years before Ikea, the Chinese had stools that could be stacked under each other and were exquisitely carved.

Talking about exquisitely carved furniture some of the items beggered belief, the attention to detail and lavish intricacies on the furniture would have taken years to hand craft.

The Earthernware was similarily exquisite. One of the UK travellers said to me that in England we were making crude, plain, clay bowls and at the same period in history the chinese were making these.

I turned a corner and spotted Dhalsim from Streetfighter. I looked around for the Zangief bust to no avail.

They had some amazing looking stone tablets.

This was a massive 10ft tall tablet and each budda was intricatley carved inside.

So what' s the deal with Jade? It just looks like snot to me!

And eat fermented whale fat.
The Chinese prize Jade and silk.
There are various types of Jade, white, green, even red. They all differ in quality and value. The luminescent green jade is prized the most, it's a lot paler than the dark green of that Jade ship.
Here's another pic I took.
That ship is gorgeous. I'd buy it if I was a russian mob boss or a mexican drug lord.
So you are going to buy it then?
But you are a......
God dammit I am too late! Curse you Vader
How apt! For the thread, I mean. I picture you saying that in a calm, soothing voice while sitting under a tree.
So basically, all hippies.
